Department of Exercise Science

The science of movement. The calling to serve.

Study the body. Serve the Body — in fitness, health, and every calling that requires people at their best.

A man in athletic wear sits on a treatment table while another man, possibly a trainer from the Department of Exercise Science, wraps his left ankle with athletic tape in a gym setting.
A woman sits on a stationary exercise bike while a man in a dress shirt uses a stethoscope and blood pressure cuff to check her blood pressure, demonstrating principles of exercise science in a clinical or laboratory setting.

Ethos

Caring for the body is caring for the whole person.

The Department of Exercise Science at Union prepares students to promote health, wellness, and human performance in ways that serve individuals and communities. We believe the human body is a gift from God, and helping people live healthier lives is one of the most meaningful ways to serve others.

You'll study exercise physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, motor learning, and other scientific principles that support health and performance. Faculty mentor you through hands-on learning experiences that prepare you for careers in fitness, wellness, and health promotion. The program also provides a strong foundation for graduate study in physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant studies, and other health professions.

At Union, you'll develop the knowledge, clinical skills, and Christian character to improve the well-being of others throughout your career.
