What You'll Study

Mathematics at Union is a rigorous discipline that develops one of the most valuable of all intellectual capacities — the ability to reason precisely, prove carefully, and solve problems with logical discipline. You'll build a deep foundation in mathematical thinking that serves you in virtually every direction you go.

A person with curly hair wearing a maroon hoodie writes on a whiteboard with a black marker. Another person in the background is also writing on the whiteboard. The setting appears to be a classroom.
A man wearing glasses and a gray polo shirt stands in front of a whiteboard, pointing at math equations written in black marker. The board contains functions and calculus notation. Green cloths rest on the boards tray.

Thinking with Precision in Service of the World

At Union, mathematics is pursued as both a discipline and a lens through which to understand God’s ordered creation. Faculty challenge you to think with precision and creativity in a community that believes mathematical reasoning is one of the most powerful tools for understanding and serving the world.
