Christopher K. Manner
Professor of Economics
About
Dr. Chris Manner started his full-time teaching career in 1996, but before becoming a professor he had the opportunity to work on a number of research projects. One such project included studying at Vanderbilt University alongside Dr. Frank Sloan, a renowned leading scholar in healthcare economics. While he never planned on becoming a professor, Dr. Manner discovered his passion for teaching while at Vanderbilt. He volunteered to lead a study group for undergraduate economics students and continued to work at the university as a teaching assistant and received several awards. Dr. Manner had the rare opportunity to teach some classes at the university while being a graduate student. While he never planned on becoming a professor, the Lord guided Dr. Manner to the profession and eventually to Union. In his time at Union, Dr. Manner has enjoyed teaching a wide variety of economics courses. His Intermediate Microeconomics course challenges students to solve major problems and think critically. If Dr. Manner could be any animal, he would want to be a Persian Cat because he is calm and quiet and dislikes loud noises and bright lights.
