SBC’s Iorg to speak at Union’s Dec. 14 graduation

Jeff Iorg, president and CEO of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Committee, will deliver the commencement address as part of Union University’s graduation ceremonies Dec. 14 in G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel on the Union campus.

Iorg began his service with the SBC Executive Committee in March. He previously served for 20 years as president of Gateway Seminary and as executive director of the Northwest Baptist Convention.

His early ministry leadership included serving as a children’s pastor in Texas and lead pastor of Green Valley Baptist Church in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Iorg is a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is the author of eight books focused on biblical leadership, character development, leading through change, evangelism and church health.

He and his wife Ann have three children and five grandchildren.

The graduation ceremony for all undergraduate degrees (except for associate degrees, Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership degrees and Memphis College of Urban and Theological Studies degrees) will take place at 10 a.m. The ceremony for students receiving associate, BSOL, MCUTS and graduate degrees will begin at 1:30 p.m.
