Dedications
Dr. Doug and Karen Duncan have been tremendous supporters of the Union University School of Pharmacy. They are encouragers, prayer warriors, financial supporters, and most importantly, they are parents to Union University alumni, with one of those alumni being a member of our inaugural 2012 class, Dr. Kristen Duncan. In order to provide a tangible way to remind current and future faculty, staff, and students of the generous encouragement and support provided by Doug and Karen Duncan, a bench has been placed outside the entry of Providence Hall in their honor with a sign recognizing them and their significant contribution to the School of Pharmacy. Additionally, Dr. Duncan has been a great contributor to the profession of pharmacy. He has not only impacted the School of Pharmacy; he has impacted the lives of many patients in his community. Doug purchased Gladhill's Pharmacy located in Dyer, TN in March of 1973. Doug was the sole owner of Duncan's Pharmacy from 1973 - 2005. Duncan's Pharmacy provides 24-hour emergency prescription service, medication therapy management, prescription compounding, and free delivery to patients in need. He is known for his contributions in the Dyer community and First Baptist Church. Dr. Duncan's work ethic and customer service has been described as infectious and made everyone want to strive harder to be like him. It is for these reasons that the School of Pharmacy is proud to announce that we will be awarding the Douglas R. Duncan Community Practice Award yearly at graduation, in honor of his significant accomplishments in community pharmacy practice.
University President Dr. Dub Oliver joined faculty, staff, and students from the Class of 2015 as we gathered together on May 15, 2015 for a time of celebration, dedication, and thanksgiving to honor the life and memory of Robin H. Walley, D.M.D. through the dedication and unveiling of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) located in the atrium of Providence Hall. Dr. Walley's daughter, Claire Walley, served as the Class of 2015 President. She and her mother, Ann, and brother, Rich, were present for the dedication. The Walley family donated the AED in honor of Dr. Walley following his unexpected death from a myocardial infarction in May of 2015
The Class of 2015 gifted the School of Pharmacy with a bench placed outside the entry of Providence Hall. The bench is identical to the bench honoring Dr. Doug and Karen Duncan. The School of Pharmacy appreciates the generosity of the Class of 2015 and has placed a plaque nearby with the names of each member of the class.
