Nicaragua Mission Trip
Just a few short weeks ago, nine of our own pharmacy students went on a life-changing and heart-warming trip to El Cedro, Nicaragua. Blake Butler, Stephanie Shackleford, Brittany Powers, Tyler Jackson, Alayna Owens, Sara Muir, Katelyn Ray, Anna Coln, and Sarah Beth Stephens, along with members of Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson, TN, and Baptist Medical Dental Mission International (BMDMI) missionaries traveled to El Cedro on a medical mission trip for one week.
The ultimate goal of the trip was to share the love of God with the people of this country. This was carried out in multiple ways as we had 15 professions of faith, saw 2,862 patients in the medical clinic, filled 19,252 prescription medications, saw 230 dental patients, provided 317 pairs of eyeglasses, administered 258 women's ultrasounds and health screenings, provided veterinary care to over 500 animals and livestock, circulated 1,800 Bibles to families and 500 New Testaments to children, and distributed 3,100 pounds of rice and beans. Overall, I feel each team member would agree that we were blessed in so many ways throughout the entire trip and the sweet people of El Cedro will forever hold a place in our heart. ~Sarah Beth Stephens (2018)
