“I think for me Union has been such a cool example of how you put biblical principles and learning together. For example, I couldn’t see how Advanced Grammar had anything to do with my Christian faith. But on the first day of class, Dr. Barbara McMillin spent time talking about finding ways to effectively articulate our faith. If your grammar is correct, people will have a better understanding of what you’re saying.”

Renewing Minds > Christ-Centered

Union’s second core value is “Christ-centered.” Union integrates the Christian faith with top-tier academics in a way that is rare in the world of higher education. Consider what Union University President David Dockery says about this concept:

“Our ultimate task, to provide Christ-centered higher education, takes place as our minds are renewed by God’s Spirit. At Union University we start from the vantage point of faith which can be integrated with learning across the curriculum, even as we struggle with issues and carry on debate in the pursuit of Truth. In doing so, following the admonition of the Apostle Paul, we seek ‘to take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ’ (2 Cor. 10:5).”

Whether you’re studying accounting or art, engineering or sociology, you’ll understand your role in that field within the context of a Christian world view. Combine this type of classroom experience with outstanding chapel services, and student ministries and the result is a comprehensive approach to life and learning.

Two examples of the types of ministries available: Our GO Trips (GO stands for Global Outreach) take students on mission to more than 20 destinations a year – many of which are in other countries. Rounders participants meet within small groups to discuss the most important literary works in light of a Christian worldview.
