Bio:
Dr. Tate grew up in Cleveland, Mississippi, a lovely college town in the heart of the delta. She decided at the age of six that she wanted to be a nurse and that never changed. Family members were encouraging and nurses at the local hospital mentored her. Because of the importance of this strong support, Dr. Tate believes that she also has a responsibility to encourage and mentor others in the profession of nursing.
When Dr. Tate taught her first course in nursing she knew that she had found her passion and her calling. She taught maternal-newborn and leadership courses at Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing for fifteen years. During that time she helped to develop and facilitated the LPN-RN fast-track program. She has also taught maternal-newborn and leadership courses at Itawamba Community College and Bevill State Community College.
Dr. Tate and her husband, James, have moved to Stillmeadow Farm in north Alabama where they raise Tennessee Walking Horses. Their son, Jim lives in Seattle, WA with their three "grand-boys" and the daughter,Sharon, lives in Birmingham, AL. The Tates are active in their church and Dr. Tate continues to teach for Union University in the education track of the Masters Program.
