A Remarkable Future A great
structure requires a solid foundation. The exciting progress
now being experienced at Union University is built on a firm
foundation of more than 175 years of committed,
Christ-centered education.
Today Union University stands on the brink of a future that
holds enormous promise. It is a university with a gifted
faculty and an outstanding staff that is prepared to take the
next step into the highest tier of the nation’s Christian
universities. What is required to build that future is vision
– and the financial resources to achieve that vision.
We need vision shaped by commonly held values – values
established on the Word of God and leading to a firm
commitment to Christ and His kingdom. We need a vision
established on the values of the priority of faith and service
in all areas of life.
Many generations have laid the foundation to make Union
what it is today – positioned to become a national leader in
Christian higher education. The quality, diversity and size of
Union’s student enrollment are consistently increasing, with
exceptional students gathering from across America to benefit
from the Union experience. Academic programs are expanding,
the breadth and depth of our excellent teaching faculty is
growing, resulting in frequent recognitions by those ranking
the nation’s outstanding educational institutions. Facilities
are being added which will provide a campus of equal stature
with that of the student body and faculty.
Union’s true potential, however, cannot be realized without
support. Trustees and friends, alumni and parents, churches
and businesses, foundations and many other supporters of the
university must play a significant role in our success if
Union is to continue building a future of national achievement
and recognition.
That is why Union has developed a long-range plan and
vision, which has met with unified support from alumni,
supporters, faculty, staff and students. The original goal,
publicly announced by the Board of Trustees in the fall of
1998, was set at $35 million. When friends of Union, who
realized the magnitude of opportunities related to our
mission, helped us achieve this goal three years ahead of
schedule, the trustees approved the expansion of the campaign
in the spring of 2000. The first phase of the “Building a
Future” campaign, to be completed by 2005, will be funded now
at a level of $60 million, more than $37 million of which has
already been raised.
By providing new and enhanced facilities, plus support for
academic programs and student scholarships, this major
campaign will assure Union’s ability to produce leaders for
the future. We invite you to be a part of this exciting
venture, as together we build a future of character and
achievement for Union University.
