U.S. NEWS RANKS UNION UNIVERSITY AS TOP FIVE BEST VALUE

JACKSON, September 17-- U.S. News & World Report has ranked Union University as one of the South's five "best values" for regional liberal arts colleges. The publication also ranked Union third in the South in its list of "Most Efficient Schools"-- those institutions which get the most out of their educational expenditures."

Union University was also ranked in the top tier of Southern liberal arts colleges-- the only West Tennessee college or university ranked in the top level of such institutions.

The U.S. News rankings are included in their annual report, "America's Best Colleges," just released for 1997. The rankings are bases on quantitative data compiled from institutions, along with surveys completed by college presidents, deans and admissions officers.

Responding to the survey results, Union president David S. Dockery said, "We are gratified that this independent study by U.S. News has recognized Union University as one of the most remarkable values in higher education today."

Union University, located in Jackson, Tenn., is a four-year, Christian liberal arts university.
