Meet Makita Reed ('15)

Who has been the most influential person in your life and why? My mother. She was taught by my grandmother how to be strong, hard-working, graceful and above all else a good Christian woman. As I’ve gotten older I now appreciate her instilling those same values in me. My mother is my biggest fan, cheerleader, supporter, life coach and best friend. She sees the good in every situation and is always positive and encouraging.

Who or what inspires you? Ordinary people who have overcome great obstacles in life. God using them to do extraordinary things truly inspires me. They give me a sense of hope in knowing that I too, with God’s help, can succeed.

Why did you choose the UUSOP? I chose Union because of the smaller class size, unique curriculum and state-of-the-art facilities. When I toured the campus and met the faculty and staff I fell in love with everything about the program.
